Mexico City's Jadir Zárate returns with his 2nd EP for us this year, just a few weeks ahead of his debut at Mutek MX. Like his first EP, this release continues to showcase his timeless blend of captivating soundscapes, deep tones and intricate textures. The EP features 2 originals and a remix from fellow Mexico City-based artist, Me & Myself.
Because Jadir is based in Mexico City, we will be donating all profits from "Leaving Samsara" to earthquake relief efforts and Jadir's recommended organization, Bio Reconstruye Mexico.

Noisey en Espanol on the lead track, "Samsara":
..."a sound experimentation formed by brilliant fragments that evoke an atmosphere in constant change, with strong contrasts between volumes, some illuminated and others submerged in shadows."
MUTEK MX on Jadir:
"Zárate stands apart from his fellow contemporary artists due to the fact that he builds his own hardware. This interest in the DIY culture has been his M.O. for the last nine years. His compositions are a set of obscure and murky landscapes full of echoes and reverb: in this intimate and desolate place we can find a deep, yet strange beauty. Zárate’s expertise is on the improvisation of samples on his live set-ups helped by a chorus of digital and analog processors."
Remezcla on Jadir:
"His recent Ancient Echoes EP showcases his penchant for overlapping thick, emotional atmospheres with noisy textures, creating just the right amount of negative space to pop out of your speakers."
BIO:
Jadir Zárate is an electronic musician and an electronics engineer who gained notoriety in the DIY synth scene in Mexico City the past 5 years. His musical style represents his surroundings through the use of silence as a main resource and the juxtaposition of states like tension and relaxation, mystery and clarity, darkness and enlightenment. Growing up, he questioned conventional structures in electronic music and decided to challenge them by creating experimental and short arrangements in his own work. He's currently based in Mexico City where he continues to build commissioned electronic equipment and pursue a career in music.
ME & MYSELF BIO:
Alfredo Ramirez, an omnivorous listener turned into one of the most exciting producers from the Mexico City electronic music scene. Me & Myself creates menacing and melancholic future garage – combining acoustic instruments with sound design and synthetic ingredients – inspired by symbolism and imagery inspired by conspiracy theories, like that related to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
