We're thrilled to welcome DJML to the Jacktone roster and he wastes no time making an impression, coming correct with an 8-track album of inventive DJ tools - Puzzle Vision Toggle.

DJML is Dan John Myers Letson, a producer from Oakland, California. Evolving from the off-kilter drum machine workouts of his 2016 debut, Puzzle Vision Toggle is a collection of rhythm tracks from the heart, cobbled together from old PCM drum machines and budget ROMplers. Low-bitrate polyrhythms and melancholy pads form punchy, non-standard grooves, channeling Barnt-style preset techno and the golden age of bedroom IDM.

The album’s title is a reference to the “solutionism” that permeates contemporary digital culture. Human exchange as zero-sum logic puzzle / optimization as the narrowing of collective imagination.

“Plover” is a heavenly blend of David Van Tieghem and Iaora Tahiti-era Mouse on Mars. It has this brassy synth bass groove rolling throughout with percussion that feels like splashes.
