Strong Pill is Nathan Young, who has spent the last two decades moving through a handful of varied American musical contexts and environments, and has arrived at a point of convergence that draws from these different places/approaches, the most obvious being post-punk, techno, noise and minimalism/drone. Of all these formative experiences, the vast musical landscape of DIY Chicago, contrasted with growing up on a farm in Nebraska made the biggest impressions, coupling a sense of pastoral zen with DIY chaos.

Evoking liminal spaces between the subterranean subconscious and the grandiose-yet-lethal cosmos of the psychedelic higher self, Strong Pill conjures soundscapes of ever-shifting scale, where fission-emission melodies and stalactite drips weave in and out of tectonic blocks of synth chords, while kick drums reverberate off the walls in what could be the skull, a cavern, or the boundaries of existence itself. Touch never forgets that at heart it's music that's meant to make you move, but where it moves you to depends entirely on the bounds of where you can conceive to go.

Each side on Touch represents one of two different subprocesses that took place simultaneously over the course of the last few years... one side intended for live performance, and the other an exploration of minimalist-oriented ambient.

Norm's work has changed so slowly and organically over the last couple of years, it would be easy to overlook the fact that he is now making work that is profoundly different from his Panabrite days; a more complex, and present music that rewards the attentive listener rather than lulling them.
